Fragniappe is a one of a kind annual event for the Gulf Coast providing a venue for marine and reef hobbyists to meet fellow enthusiasts and renowned vendors, hear presentations, see new products, and purchase great livestock and dry goods. Proceeds from the event will benefit Bayou Reefkeeping member Scott Burlette, AKA “6lilfishes” in the corals community.

Dew Drop Jazz Hall Spring Concert Series - Lena Prima & Band

Admission is $10 at the door (No advance tickets sold). Most shows begin at 6:30pm; arrive early to secure the best seat inside, or bring chairs to sit outside. Children welcome, no pets, no ice chests. Food is available for purchase next door at the First Free Mission Baptist Church, and beverages are available by donation. Souvenir merchandise is also available outside.

Northlake Nature Center - “Kundalini Yoga” with Sally Dunn

Kundalini Yoga is an active form of meditation using postures, breath and mantras. It is a yoga that practices meditation and movement to achieve a sense of spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing. It is easy and fun, students leave with a feeling of happiness and peace. Sally has studied under the late Yogi Bhajan for Kundalini yoga, Khentral Rinpoche in the practice of Dharma and S.N. Goenka in the practice of Vipassana meditation for over a decade and is a delight to be instructed by. St. Paddy's Day Parade and Celebration

Second Saturday Evening Walk

Columbia Street, Lee Lane, and throughout downtown Covington.
The City of Covington, Covington Business Association, St. Tammany Art Association and downtown galleries and shops present the Second Saturday Evening Stroll. Galleries hold opening receptions to introduce new exhibitions alongside regular gallery artists; also, many boutiques and shops on Columbia Street and Lee Lane are open late, and restaurants and nightclubs have special menus and live music. 

2nd Annual Blue Jeans Ball and Battle of the Bands

6-10pm @ Covington Trailhead
This truly unique event promises to be unlike any other fundraising event that you have ever attended. As the name of the event states, the dress code will be blue jeans casual and there will be a good old fashioned battle of the bands. This year, Lost in the 60s and Boogie Falaya will slug it out to see who will win the battle while playing only their best music and taking one small break during band changeovers.

A fun, educational, family experience, the Abita Springs Earth Festival, produced by Abita Springs Friends of the Park, will be held Sunday, March 13th from noon to 5 p.m. The free festival will feature live music, a homemade and homegrown marketplace, kids' activities, and great food. The Friends of the Park also will be giving away sapling trees to festival guests.

“All About Nature” Book Club meets to discuss “What a Plant Knows” by Daniel Chamovitz. Renowned biologist Daniel Chamovitz presents an intriguing and scrupulous look at how plants experience the world-from the colors they see to the schedules they keep. Highlighting the latest research in plant science, he takes us into the lives of different types of plants, and draws parallels with the human senses to reveal that we have much more in common with sunflowers and oak trees than we may realize. A rare inside look at what life is really like for the grass we walk on, the flowers we sniff, and the trees we climb, What a Plant Knows offers us a greater understanding of science and our place in nature. Festival Bonfouca

5-9pm @ Heritage Park, Slidell
Slidell's first 3-day art and music festival celebrating the rich cultural diversity of the region, Festival Bonfouca, named for the nearby bayou, will feature lots of live music, local food vendors, a juried art market, and activities for kids of all ages. The inaugural event is March 18-20, 2016, at Slidell's Heritage Park. Gates are open 5-9pm Friday & 11am-9pm Saturday and Sunday. The event is Rain or Shine. 

Northshore Boat-N-Fishing Show

The 5th annual Northshore Boat-N-Fishing Show at the Northshore Harbor Center in Slidell includes boat and outdoor gear exhibitors, kids’ activities, lectures with professional fishing guides and marina owners, door prizes and family fun.

Spring'n the Vines featuring Kermit Ruffins

Join Pontchartrain Vineyards as the winery kicks off its 2016 Jazz'n the Vines season with Spring'n the Vines featuring Kermit Ruffins. Gate opens at 11am. Concert is 12:30pm to 3pm. Admission is $10.00 per person. Children 17 and under get in FREE. This is an outdoor concert. Please bring chairs and bug spray. Local food trucks will be present at all concerts. Outside food is allowed. No outside alcohol, pets, BBQ grills, or sky lanterns. Check website for special online only deals. 

 
Northshore Baby & Child Fest, A Family Expo

10am-4pm @ Castine Center, Mandeville
Northshore Baby & Child Fest is an expo for expectant parents, families and grandparents throughout the region to learn, shop & play. The expo will consist of more than 75 booths showcasing boutiques, photographers, summer camps, schools, party places, karate lessons, ultrasounds and more. Plus, there will be fun interactive activities throughout the day for families - Star Wars and princess stage performances, character meet & greets, inflatables, face painting, workshops and more. Giveaways include grand prizes and prizes from the vendors. Don't miss it!

Chef Soiree

Taste specialties from dozens of the best restaurants in the region and enjoy music and fireworks at the end of the night.  A special raffle will also be held. Take a chance to win $10,000 cash and other prizes with The Chance for Children Raffle. Only 2,000 tickets will be sold. The winner will be drawn at 8pm during the event but need not be present to win.
